Helldivers 2 has introduced a new Terminid strain known as the “noxious” strain, adding two venomous enemies to the front: the small, fast Noxious Scavenger and the imposing Noxious Spewer. Bug caves can also now appear across more biomes, including deserts and frozen tundras.

Noxious Scavengers resemble ordinary scavengers but move faster and deliver venom with each bite. They are fragile, making weapons with broad attacks—such as shotguns, flamethrowers and grenades—effective against them.

The Noxious Spewer is larger and quicker than the ground-crawling spewers Helldivers may know. It can spit webbing that prevents targets from sprinting, then close in with a fast bite that delivers a stronger dose of venom than a Scavenger’s. Its head has medium armor, but its web-filled abdomen is unprotected. Shooting the abdomen can cause it to burst, trapping nearby Helldivers and insects in webbing.

The game’s interface now includes a poison-status icon. Mild poisoning clouds a player’s vision and drains health; severe poisoning increases the ongoing damage and removes the ability to sprint. Stims can help treat the effects.

Terminid caves are no longer limited to a handful of worlds and may now appear in more biomes on the galactic map. Their narrow sightlines and blind corners favor fast enemies, so the announcement advises players to carry close-range firepower and stay with their squad.
