Sony has released firmware version 14.02 for PlayStation-4/">PS4. The unannounced update includes one patch note: “We’ve made some security fixes to the system software.”

The update follows several recent system patches for PS5. The source reports that the PS4 release is intended to address piracy, hacking and jailbreak activity targeting PlayStation consoles, though Sony’s published note does not provide further details about the fixes.

The report also says hackers have used AI tools to run emulators on PS5 consoles with firmware versions 7.00 through 13.60. It adds that players will need the latest PS5 firmware to play GTA 6.
