The second year of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is now available, adding more drivers, vehicles and courses to the game. The update also introduces Duel Mode, new gadgets and a dedicated gadget slot called Super Space, according to details shared by the development team.

Duel Mode offers an alternative to the game’s standard 12-player races, focusing on one-on-one competition. The developers say the format puts more emphasis on the gap between rivals and how each player uses their items, creating different strategic possibilities.

Super Space is designed for a single gadget. Placing a gadget in this slot strengthens its effects, giving players additional options when building their setups and choosing tactics. The team said the second year’s additions are intended to expand the ways players can develop and refine their own racing styles.

The second-year offering also includes the SEGA Consoles Pack, featuring three vehicles inspired by classic SEGA systems. Their designs draw on recognizable colors, shapes and button layouts, including the Dreamcast’s rounded form and distinctive palette, as well as the angular silhouettes and muted tones of the Mega Drive and Saturn. The Dreamcast vehicle also incorporates a VMU recreated using original period reference material.

Rather than reproducing the consoles directly, the designers adapted their features into racing-car parts: rounded elements became fenders and front ends, while angular lines informed body panels and hoods. The team said the Genesis Tower US design required particular experimentation to keep it recognizable without obstructing the character or interfering with gameplay.

On PlayStation Store, the standard edition is listed at €39.99. The Digital Deluxe and Digital Deluxe 2nd Year editions are each listed at €59.99.
