A new Terminid strain has reached the front lines in Helldivers 2. The Noxious bugs include a quick, venomous Scavenger and a larger Spewer, while underground cave networks now have a chance to appear across more biomes on the Galactic map.
Noxious Scavengers resemble their ordinary counterparts but move faster and deliver poison with each bite. They are fragile, making weapons such as shotguns, flamethrowers and grenades effective against them, according to the briefing.
The Noxious Spewer is larger and moves quickly. Its Web Spit can prevent a Helldiver from sprinting, and its bite delivers a stronger dose of venom than a Scavenger’s. The Spewer’s head has medium armor, but its abdomen is unarmored. Attacking the abdomen carries a risk: if it bursts, the resulting Web Explosion can snare nearby Helldivers and bugs.
Poison effects are tracked with a new HUD icon. Light poisoning blurs vision and gradually reduces health; heavy poisoning increases damage over time and removes the ability to sprint. Stims can treat the condition.
Terminid caves are no longer confined to a handful of worlds and may now appear across more biomes, from deserts to frozen tundras. Their narrow sightlines and blind corners make close-range weapons, squad coordination and keeping a stim in reserve useful precautions, the briefing says.
