Gang of Dragon, the Yakuza-esque game planned by Yakuza creator Toshiro Nagoshi, will not be released. Nagoshi Studio, the developer established under NetEase for the project, was officially dissolved on 31 October 2026.

The closure was recorded in Japan’s government gazette, Kanpo, following a shareholders’ resolution. Reports in March 2026 had already indicated that NetEase had withdrawn funding from the project, but the official notice confirms that both the studio and the PS5 game are no longer moving forward.

Gang of Dragon had been revealed only a few months earlier at The Game Awards. According to previous reports, completing and bringing the game to market would have required an additional ¥7 billion, approximately $44 million. NetEase’s broader reduction of its international video game operations reportedly contributed to the project’s cancellation.

The game was presented as a melee-focused action-adventure set in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Its story followed Shin Ji-seong, a high-ranking member of a Korean crime syndicate based in Kabukicho, as he became involved in conflicts within the underworld and developed relationships that challenged his sense of purpose.

With Nagoshi Studio now dissolved, Gang of Dragon will not see the light of day.
