Thief: The Dark Project will return on PS5 in remastered form on December 3, 2026. The edition uses Nightdive Studios’ KEX Engine and will run at 4K and 120 frames per second.

The package includes the original game, the three additional missions from Thief: Gold and The Tarnished Mirror, a new campaign that connects The Dark Project with Thief 2: The Metal Age. The campaign follows a theft that leads to imprisonment, uneasy alliances and a descent into a drowned necropolis, while adding new enemies, larger-scale level design and horror elements.

The Tarnished Mirror was created by the team behind Thief: The Black Parade, a fan-made mod and expansion for Thief: Gold. According to the release information, the collaboration brings a community creation into the official canon with the involvement of Nightdive Studios and Eidos-Montréal.

The remaster will add modern controller support, including a weapon wheel, rumble and motion controls. It will also feature trophies, a Vault containing behind-the-scenes material, updated textures, models and animations, as well as small adjustments to the original level design. Quality-of-life features include quick-selection wheels for weapons and items and a mission selector for replaying completed missions.

PS5 digital pre-orders are available through the PlayStation Store. The standard edition costs £24.99/$29.99, while the Digital Deluxe Edition is priced at £28.99/$34.99.

Physical releases will include standard, steelbook and Deluxe Trapezoid editions. The latter contains the game, a steelbook, booklet, box and physical remaster diary, and is listed at £49.99/$69.99.
