Derelikt will bring its take on late-1990s science-fiction horror to PlayStation 5 on November 13, 2026. Solo developer Philipp Jensen has shared new details about the game and its development ahead of launch.

The story takes place aboard the Von Neumann outpost, built on an anomalous asteroid discovered in Saturn’s orbit. Players take the role of external contractors sent to investigate the disappearance of the Delta excavation team, which vanished on the surface of the ruined asteroid.

The outpost is plagued by darkness, failing systems and conflicting accounts from the survivors. A mysterious drone is also pushing the inhabitants to their limits, creating an atmosphere built around uncertainty and distrust. The game features more than a dozen characters, each with their own secrets and motivations; some may help the player, while others could prove dangerous or doomed.

Derelikt combines tense exploration with combat, resource management, dialogue and classic puzzle-solving. Its arsenal includes conventional weapons, experimental prototypes and alien weaponry that players can discover as they progress.

The project is designed as an homage to fifth-generation console graphics. It uses hand-painted textures, vertex-color lighting and manually implemented affine texture warping, with dynamically subdivided geometry used to reduce the effect. The game also includes computer-generated retro-style cutscenes.

Jensen said the development team aimed to preserve the charm of the period while applying modern game-design ideas. Players will also be able to enable or disable certain effects according to their preferences.

Derelikt has been in development in some form since late 2021. Pre-orders are currently available with a 10% discount before release.
