Dave Bautista has been training for his role as Kratos in Amazon Prime's upcoming live-action God of War adaptation, confirming on social media that he has gained 20 pounds of muscle—approximately 9kg.
The former wrestler now weighs 250 pounds (113kg). At 6 feet 6 inches tall, Bautista has the imposing physical presence associated with the God of War protagonist.
Bautista is taking over the role from Ryan Hurst, who was injured during filming earlier in the year. His preparation has focused on building the physique needed to portray Kratos.
The production has yet to reveal Bautista in the character's full makeup, including Kratos' distinctive red tattoo.
