Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 arrives on November 6 with new multiplayer maps and modes, a DMZ location, and additional content for Warzone. The free update will also introduce new weapons, operator skins, weapon blueprints and DMZ survival kits.
Three maps will be available in multiplayer at launch. Backstab features a war-damaged setting with abandoned tanks and heavy drones, while Canyon takes players through rocky terrain and a convoy ambush site. A reworked Shoot House is set in snowy, uneven terrain in North Korea.
Season 1 also brings back Grind, where players collect opponents’ dog tags and deposit them to score for their team, and Drop Zone, a team mode built around capturing a rotating objective where killstreak packages periodically fall. Additional content is planned for midseason: Ministry features combat around and inside an embassy, while Overflow is set around a factory and nearby farmland. The new Counter Attack mode tasks teams with detonating a bomb at the enemy communications post while defending their own.
DMZ players will enter X01, a newly discovered weapons facility seized by enemy forces. Its maze of tunnels and changing hazards calls for careful planning, specialized equipment and squad coordination. The site contains powerful gear, DMZ Orders, threat reports to help players take on major commanders, and a resupply route. Extraction points will close over time, requiring players to complete the steps needed to escape.
Warzone will receive two new maps, Hajin and Zodiac, alongside additional game modes and features. More details about the Season 1 Warzone content are expected to be revealed later.
The Season 1 Battle Pass adds the Cronen Osprey assault rifle and CSG-35 submachine gun. The Osprey is described as a fast, reliable rifle with moderate power, while the CSG-35 is designed for close-range combat and has the highest rate of fire in its class.
The Battle Pass includes more than 100 unlockable items across 100 linear tiers, including operator skins, weapon blueprints and finishing moves. A catch-up system for premium Battle Pass owners can award the reward corresponding to the current day of the season, up to a maximum of 50 days, alongside the usual progression.
